A few weeks ago I wrote an article telling you how important it was to have an email list. If I remember correctly I actually told you that there is noting more important than your targeted email list.
However I didn’t tell you how to build your opt-in email list.
Building your opt-in email list can be very challenging. I know it’s been one of the hardest parts of my online business.
I’ve learned over the years that you can’t just add an opt-in email box to the side of your blog and expect people to just give you their email address.
You need what we call a money magnet!
What is a money magnet? I’m glad you asked.
A money magnet is a peace of content that is very valuable and useful that you give your followers in exchange for their email address.
Now the value of your money magnet is very important, because people these days are not willing to just hand over their primary address unless it’s going to gain them something of great value. Your money magnet should be something that you could also sell and make a good profit from.
Your money magnet should be very useful content. It should be something that will help them in their niche and increase profits for them. I would recommend making a digital product of some sort that they can have immediately after they opt-in to your list. I recommend this for a couple of reasons. The first reason is it’s important to provide content to people while their interest are peaked. If you wait five days to ship them something, they will have most likely lost interest and never open the package much less review the material. The second reasons is it’s very cheap for you to provide. I created a video training course as my money magnet that is hosted on my own website. When people opt-in they are automatically sent to a page that contains the training for them to consume right away. There is no wait on the followers end and no shipping and packing cost on my end. If creating a training course is not something your interested in, then a great eBook would also serve well.
Last you need to make sure that you have an opt-in box not only on your blogs side bar, but also included in every relevant post. I highly recommend that you have an opt-in hover box as well. My opt-in’s increased a large percentage when I added the opt-in hover box. Mine only appears to the viewer the first time they visit my site. I wouldn’t recommend having it show up every time, as it might get annoying and cause you to loose a reader. You can easily set up an opt-in hover box through your Aweber account.
If you put these steps into practice, I’m confident you will see a great increase in your email opt-in conversions. Just remember to make sure your money magnet is great and valuable content. My money magnet is something that can easily help my followers increase traffic to their webstes as well as increase sales and profits.
